BLUUUE is 3 times blue: botanical dyeing, chemical dyeing, and knitting 
 
A unique combination of dyeing yarns and their application in knitted fabrics in one summer knitting week. Participants will learn the basics of vegetable dyeing, acid dyeing, and knitting.
 
After this week, you will have knowledge and experience with various specialist dyeing techniques and their effect in knitting. During the knitting week, you will alternate between dye baths, hand knitting, and knitting machines, so that you can see the result of your own dyed yarns directly in various knitting stitches.
 
After these 5 intensive days, you will have the basis for your own recipe book, at least 600 grams of yarn processed in various dyed and knitted samples. That is enough for a sweater.
 
Teachers Maartje Boer from STRIKKS and Loret Karman from the Amsterdamse Steek have jointly developed a special lesson plan. We see that little use is made of the possibilities of dyeing yarns and the direct effect of it in knitting.
 
The students will go home full of knowledge and new ideas with a knitted sample book with dyeing techniques.

Hand dyeing and machine knitting 
This summer knitting week is for everyone who is looking for an inspiring knitting week. Experienced or inexperienced dyers and knitters are welcome. Designers, artists, hobby makers alike. You do not need much prior knowledge; if you can hand knit (cast on and cast off, knit and purl) this week is perfect for you. No knowledge of machine knitting is required, because we teach you a number of basic techniques. But if you can already do that, then that is a bonus and you can quickly continue.
 
And even if you are already a star in knitting, you can be inspired by the possibilities that the combination of knitting and dyeing offers to find a different perspective on the knitting technique.
